Vitamin B:
Do you ever feel you’re lacking energy or suffer from SAD during the dark winter months then you could be vitamin B deficient.
The B-group encompasses 8 water-soluble vitamins vital for various metabolic processes in the body. They are absorbed in the small intestine directly into the blood. Individual B vitamins are referred to by B-number or by chemical name, such as B1 for thiamine, B2 for riboflavin and so forth. Each B vitamin is either a co-factor – generally a co-enzyme for key metabolic processes – or is a precursor needed to make one. Generally speaking B vitamins are essential for nervous system health, energy production and cardiovascular health among others.
As each individual vitamin in this group has various functions, I will discuss each one separately over the course of the next few posts; providing food sources and simple ways of increasing your intake to support a healthier YOU.
Thank you for taking the time to read.
Very timely as the dark and cold close in on the Northern Hemisphere, Elaine.
