About Me

Originally from West Cork, I ‘set sail’ for France where I cast my anchor for 13 years; I returned to Cork in 2005. Having obtained a BA Hons in Geography and English in 2012 from University College Cork, I embarked on a PhD journey in the discipline of Cultural Geography. My familial background in fishing, my appreciation for cultural geography and my passion for coastal life steered my research on a course to understanding fishing as a way of life in contemporary Ireland and France – more specifically Brittany. Travelling and discovering (and rediscovering) new horizons fascinates me. I am interested in people and places from a cultural perspective as well as having a keen appreciation for food on both a cultural and nutritional level.
